Battletoads begins with cartoon punches and oversized finishing blows, then refuses to remain a straightforward brawler. Rescuing Pimple and Princess Angelica sends the toads down a deep shaft, onto speeding vehicles, through icy passages, and into stages with very different rules.
Regular fighting rewards positioning and throws, while the famous Turbo Tunnel asks you to learn the sequence of barriers and jumps. The exaggerated animation makes every successful strike look playful even when the surrounding challenge is severe. Two players can share the journey, though careless attacks can also hurt a partner. Improvement comes from recognizing which skill the current stage needs instead of expecting one approach to fit everything.
