Contra III throws its commandos into an invasion large enough to transform streets, factories, and skies into elaborate action scenes. You can carry two weapons and switch between them, making a strong combination worth protecting as much as a remaining life.
Side-view stages demand quick shooting and precise jumps through changing terrain, while overhead missions use rotation to alter how you read the battlefield. Set pieces frequently ask you to adapt before the previous idea has worn out. Bosses fill huge portions of the screen, but their scale still resolves into attack patterns and safe positions. It is a short, concentrated adventure whose spectacle works because the basic movement remains so immediate.
