A stork's interrupted delivery leaves Baby Mario in the care of the Yoshis, who pass him across an island in pursuit of his kidnapped brother. Yoshi can flutter at the end of a jump, swallow enemies, and turn them into eggs for aimed throws.
Being hit usually sends Mario floating away rather than immediately ending the attempt, creating a tense rescue before the timer runs out. Flowers, red coins, and stars encourage you to study each stage instead of simply reaching the goal. Transformations and playful environmental ideas keep changing the pace. The crayon-like scenery feels welcoming, while the optional score chase asks for patience, observation, and very accurate eggs.
