Evil Pigs steal Tomba's grandfather's bracelet, giving the pink haired boy a personal reason to investigate their hold over the land. The side scrolling world has depth changes and connected routes, so progress is less a single march to the right than a growing understanding of places.
Tomba can jump onto enemies, grab them, and throw them, making a pig both an obstacle and a useful object. Conversations activate events whose solutions may be waiting somewhere else entirely. Equipment and new abilities broaden the search, while the countryside changes as larger problems are resolved. Its odd requests give wandering a purpose even when the bracelet has temporarily slipped your mind.
